They carry the wild grace of the big cat \u2013 calm, confident and ready to leap.<\/p>\n<h2>The panther that changed jewellery<\/h2>\n<p>In 1914 the French house of Cartier first used the panther motif. Later Jeanne Toussaint, the brand\u2019s long-time creative director, turned the big cat into its emblem \u2013 so strongly that she herself was nicknamed \u201cthe Panther\u201d. The feline motif has never gone out of fashion since.<\/p>\n<h2>Symbolism<\/h2>\n<p>In many cultures the big cat is a guardian and a sign of power. It is believed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>give strength, courage and self-confidence;<\/li>\n<li>protect from danger and ill intentions;<\/li>\n<li>stand for independence and inner freedom;<\/li>\n<li>bring elegance and sensuality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The leopard in jewellery<\/h2>\n<p>A leopard or tiger head looks equally good in men\u2019s bracelets of onyx and natural stones and in women\u2019s earrings and rings with crystals.
