It usually has three leaves, and a four-leaf clover, when found, has been seen as true good fortune for centuries.<\/p>\n<h2>The rare fourth leaf<\/h2>\n<p>The four-leaf clover is a rarity of nature \u2013 it is said to occur about once in ten thousand ordinary ones. That is why whoever finds one is chosen by luck. The Celts believed it protected against evil forces and helped you see the unseen.<\/p>\n<h2>The three-leaf clover<\/h2>\n<p>In Ireland the three-leaf clover, the shamrock, is a national symbol. According to legend Saint Patrick used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the people \u2013 three leaves on one stem.<\/p>\n<h2>Symbolism<\/h2>\n<p>Traditionally each of the four leaves carries its own meaning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>faith;<\/li>\n<li>hope;<\/li>\n<li>love;<\/li>\n<li>luck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That is why the clover is seen as a charm that attracts happiness and protects the one who wears it.<\/p>\n<h2>The clover in jewellery<\/h2>\n<p>The clover is a clean and elegant motif \u2013 it looks wonderful in necklaces, bracelets and earrings, in gold, silver tones and steel.
